Being born into a predetermined social class that you can’t change is unfortunate. Learning about history, you’ve probably come across caste systems such as nobility, commoner, slave, etc. or aristocrat, bourgeois, servant, etc. in the West. You probably found it absurd to have such system of being born into a predetermined social class and not being able to do anything about it. Society has made headway wherein people now have many opportunities to change one’s social class depending on the effort made. Today, there are no distinctly predefined social classes and you’re not stuck in one for life. But with the advancement of capitalism, wealth now determines what class you’re born into, and it’s now becoming increasingly difficult to change this paradigm.
