Golden spoon face

Being born into a predetermined social class that you can’t change is unfortunate. Learning about history, you’ve probably come across caste systems such as nobility, commoner, slave, etc. or aristocrat, bourgeois, servant, etc. in the West. You probably found it absurd to have such system of being born into a predetermined social class and not being able to do anything about it.

Society has made headway wherein people now have many opportunities to change one’s social class depending on the effort made. Today, there are no distinctly predefined social classes and you’re not stuck in one for life.

But with the advancement of capitalism, wealth now determines what class you’re born into, and it’s now becoming increasingly difficult to change this paradigm. Classes alluding to such capitalism are coined gold spoon, silver spoon, and dirt spoon. More and more people have been talking about celebrity kids being casted for major roles, not because of their talent but rather the halo effect of their parents.

Such phenomenon is a major problem with capitalism and preventing such social classes from cementing is a challenge that this generation will need to tackle.

There is what’s called ‘mo-tae mi-nyoh.’ It denotes those who are exceptionally beautiful and were born that way. It also indicates women who were born beautiful even without plastic surgery. It’s essentially the polar opposite of plastic beauty.

In my line of work, you really get a sense of the importance of genes. Beauty genes are most certainly inherited and there are those who lucked out being born with good looks. Mo-tae Mi-nyoh are those born beautiful solely due to good genes without intending to or making any effort.  Alluding to the golden spoon theory mentioned above, mo-tae mi-nyoh essentially have a ‘golden spoon face.’

Society is critical of those born with a golden spoon. Be that as it may, only when it comes to beauty, mo-tae mi-nyoh’s born with a golden spoon face are highly acknowledged while the response to plastic beauty tends to be diminished. In the manner those born poor but make it as self-made people through hard work are recognized, I personally think that those born unattractive becoming beautiful through hard work and effort should also be recognized. Plastic surgeons like myself are likely the very people making the greatest contribution to giving those not born attractive the opportunity to live as one that is.

I still strive to this day to transform faces from dirt spoons to gold spoons to prevent those who inherited beauty, or shall we say ‘golden spoon faces,’ from monopolizing beauty.
