What are the differences between the two surgeries?




As you get older, the saggy eyelids can be a visible element of age, but it can be accompanied by functional problems such as interfering with vision or poking your eyelashes.  Therefore, you may consider the correction surgery to improve saggy eyelids.  The most common surgery is upper blepharoplasty and brow lifting surgery. 


However, many people do not know much about the difference between the two surgeries, or consider the both as same surgery because of the common point of improving the sagging eyes. Today, I will tell you about the difference between the upper blepharoplasty and brow lifting surgery.




Upper Blepharoplasty Surgery



Upper blepharoplasty surgery is a procedure that removes the sagging eyelids fat around the eyes and removes the muscles then suture.  The power of eye opening muscle is strengthen which make the eyes look younger. 



It is a surgery to incise the skin of the upper eyelid and to remove excess fat and muscle around the thick eyelid skin and then suture.  It is more effective for eyes with weak eye opening muscle or depressed shape, and has a definite effect on eyes that are saggy or thick skin.




Brow Lifting Surgery



Eyebrow lifting surgery is often performed when you want to maintain the existing double eyelid line or to improve saggy eyelid skin without double eyelid surgery.
Depending on the shape of the eye or the position of the eye, the incision above or below the eyebrow is incised along the line of eyebrows, so the scar is concealed by the eyebrows and can be improved with quick and simple looking youthful eyes.



The biggest difference from upper blepharoplasty surgery is that it incises around the eyebrows, so if you have a double eyelid, you can keep the line as it is, and you can improve the sagginess without making a double eyelid.  Because the incision is made around the eyebrows, the scar is not visible and disappears naturally over time.



The brow lifting surgery is done by incising the upper part of the eyebrow when the spacebetween the eye and the eyebrow is narrow.  Conversely, if the gap is wide, the lower part of the eyebrow is incised.





In addition to upper blepharoplasty surgery and brow lifting, there are various ways to improve the aged face, such as lower blepharoplasty surgery or under eye fat repositioning surgery. However, because of different surgical objectives and different methods, it is important to determine the surgery based on the precise diagnosis of the plastic surgeon in order to obtain aesthetically pleasing results.
