How long will the swelling last after the double eyelids surgery? Aftercare for double eyelids surgery

Even though the trend for plastic surgery is changing with the time, double eyelid surgery is still the most important surgery so there's a lot of question about it.

How long does the swelling last?

The swelling varies according to the individual's condition and method of surgery.
For acute and large swelling, lasts about a week or two. The third or fourth day after the surgery is worse. And the swelling begins to fall off after this period.  During this period, it is very meaningful to assess the double eyelid line and shape because the swelling itself often falls differently from the left and the shape may vary depending on the degree of bruising around it.
After about four weeks of surgery, the swelling goes down to a certain extent and becomes more natural. It usually takes up to three to six months after the surgery to get rid of the residual swelling. Of course, depending on your condition, you may have more mild swelling.

What surgery makes swelling last longer?

Usually, the non-incision method is less swollen than the incision method, and it goes down a little faster. And when skin is thin, the swelling goes down relatively quickly.

Does a revision cause more swelling than the first one?

Swelling of revision generally lasts longer than the first surgery. On average, the swelling goes down 1.5 times slower.

Of course, there can be a personal difference.
Bending or raising your head after a double eyelid operation can cause blood to build up your face and make the area swell even more. So after surgery, it's better to sleep with your face higher than your heart, and usually avoid bowing your head backwards.
Walking also promote blood circulation, which helps remove swelling, so do it often. After surgery, apply a cold pack to suppress swelling for three days. After that, apply a warm pack to remove swelling and it will be a great help.
