No. 9 Cosmetic essay by Dr. Lee Jin soo- Please cut it all under the nerve line!
Facial contouring is a surgery that changes
facial shape by trimming the bones of the face.
In order for facial bones to be trimmed and
changed, the cartilage outside the bone (skin, fat, muscle, etc.) must respond.
If you want to change your face, the cartilage must react, and vice versa, the
maximum amount that the cartilage responds to is the maximum amount of effect
If you cut the bone as much as you can,
you'll think your face will change to the fullest, but it's not. If the
cartilage responds, cutting the bone doesn't fully reflect the shape of the
bone and creating the remaining cartilage, it creates a stretched shape.
During the consultation, people ask,
"Do I have a high nerve line?" In the lower jaw bone, there's a
hypnotic nerve called the mandibular nerve and the nerves that are responsible
for the sensation of the lower lip, and if you take an X-ray of your face, it
goes from the middle to the lower jaw bone, and the height of your nerves
varies from person to person. So if the nerve lines are high, you can cut a lot
of bones and get a v-line, and if the neural lines are low, you tend to think
that they can’t be cut a lot. .
But if you actually cut the bone underneath
the nerve line, the cartilage doesn't reflect all the missing space. In
particular, the middle of the jawline is the least responsive. If you cut a lot
under the nerve line, each region that responds relatively well has a lot of lines
going up, which is what we call as a dog's jaw, and the middle of the jaw line
goes up less, and it stretches out. This shape is similar to the jawline of an
elderly person who has sagging skin with aging.
It's not important to cut a lot of bones,
but you have to cut them within the range of the cartilage to make a pretty
jawline. The amount and direction of cut and position should be carefully
adjusted depending on the area of reaction.
There was a drama about the world of hair
designers that I saw earlier. There was a saying in one of the lines. When I
cut my hair, I don't think about how much I'll cut my hair and think about how
much I'll leave. When I do the surgery, I don't think about the size of the
bone that I cut, but I do the surgery thinking about the shape of the bone
which is left behind.
