Would it be good for my health to drink coffee right after meals?

People in our country consume 500 cups of coffee a year. It's like drinking more than one glass a day on average!

It must be a healthy drink because a study found that drinking coffee can help prevent sleepiness and that three cups of black coffee a day can lower the risk of stroke or cancer.

Especially a cup of coffee after lunch is hard to quit.

But even coffee that is good for health is not good for health if you drink it right after meals.

What would be the reason for this?

Iron absorption obstruction

Tannin in coffee combines with iron about 300 times faster than the stomach absorbs iron. So before the stomach absorbs iron, it absorbs it first and releases it out of the body. Lack of iron can easily make you feel tired and less focused as your metabolic rate decreases. It can also cause anemia.

Reflux esophagitis inducement

It is said that drinking coffee right after a meal hinders the absorption of nutrients that our body needs. It's caffeine, tannin, and sugar in coffee. In particular, caffeine loosens the tightening muscles at the bottom of the esophagus, so that if you drink it right away after eating a lot of food, the food can flow back, and in severe cases, it can reverse the acid and cause reflux esophagitis.

Inducement of obesity

I can gain weight even if I drink Americano, which is not mixed coffee and has no sugar at all?

Within 1 to 2 hours of waking up, between 12:00 ~ 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 ~ 6:30 p.m., the body releases a lot of cortisol hormones. Caffeine in coffee promotes cortisol secretion, which can be a burden on the body and cause chronic fatigue, hyperlipidemia, and obesity. Also, caffeine-induced diuresis can cause dehydration, and people can mistake thirst for hunger and eat more food.

How can I drink coffee healthily?

Because of the sweet taste, the mixed coffee you find is 50 to 60 Kcal per glass, which can cause obesity and cardiovascular disease if you drink a lot. Therefore, it is better not to drink too much, and if you drink too much, try not to drink more than 2 to 3 cups a day.

Also, it is recommended to drink at least 30 minutes to 1 hour after meals, and drinking decaffeinated coffee or adding a little salt to coffee can neutralize the tannin and prevent iron loss.

It would be nice to drink a cup of coffee casually, isn't it?
