Zero bezel face

The mobile phone is perhaps the most used thing by modern day people. The latest mobile phones are ceaselessly released in the market at alarming speed. Those with at least a little interest in mobile phones have likely heard of the term ‘zero bezel.’  The outer edge of the screen is called the bezel and the thinner this is, the more immersive it is, and large screens can be placed on small phones. This not only applies for mobile phones but the outer border of TVs and monitors is also called the bezel, and the trend is drifting towards increasingly thinner bezel. The progression of mobile phones is tantamount to the bezel becoming increasingly thinner. Absolutely zero bezel doesn’t exist yet in actuality as there is still slight bezel, albeit very thinly, but this bezel has gotten much, much thinner.

When it comes to the face, it is considered aesthetically beautiful if your eyes, nose, and mouth occupy a large proportion of the face. It is for this reason that most surgeries are geared towards making the eyes and nose larger.

Putting it the other way around, the narrower the outer contour surrounding the eyes, nose, and mouth, the better it is. This is similar in concept to the phone bezel explained above. The thinner the phone bezel, the more the screen is accentuated, making large screens possible on small phones. Likewise for the face, the narrower the outer contour, larger eyes, nose, and mouth appear more pronounced on a smaller face. Essentially, the narrower the outer contour of your face, the higher the proportion your eyes, nose, and mouth occupy on your face.

Like the notion of reducing the bezel, the surgery for reducing the outer contour of the face is called facial contouring. Cheek reduction reduces the area of your face surrounding your eyes, jaw reduction reduces the area surrounding the lips, and chin reduction reduces the area under the lips. Performing such facial contouring surgeries actually have the effect of reducing the size of your face, and also has the effect of making the eyes, nose, and mouth pop relatively, making these features appear larger.

Harmony and balance is very important for the face. If your face actually had hardly any outer contour like the zero bezel phone screens out currently, the face would also appear awkward in shape. It would be good to consider ‘zero bezel face’ as symbolically meaning that a smaller outer contour of the face is relatively ideal, and not that there is actually no outer contour on the face.
