Scarcity of beauty

Is plastic surgery necessary below a certain point of beauty? Is there a set standard like the cut line of a test, below which you need plastic surgery or it isn’t necessary if you surpass that standard?

What are your thoughts? I don't think there's a set beauty standard that determines whether surgery is requisite. I don’t think plastic surgery is for unattractive people below a certain standard but for those who want to be prettier regardless of one’s current level of beauty.

This question is frequently asked at outpatient clinics. "Do I need plastic surgery?" My answer is the same every time. "There is no set standard requiring surgery. Plastic surgery is not a life and death situation like cancer surgery. It’s entirely based on your own needs, and whether or not you get plastic surgery it is a matter of your choice.”

No matter how low the level of beauty objectively, you don't need plastic surgery if you don't have any complaints about your appearance. Contrarily, even if you have a high level of beauty objectively, you can be a candidate for plastic surgery if you aren’t happy with your appearance and want to look better. That said, plastic surgery stems from dissatisfaction with one's appearance or a desire to look better. Not getting plastic surgery even though you’re unattractive or getting plastic surgery even when you’re attractive is not anything that should be criticized.

The level of beauty is not directly proportional to the scarcity of beauty. Assuming that the beauty level of our entire population follows normal distribution, the scarcity would increase exponentially as the level of beauty increases. Things just seem complicated when there’s math involved, right? Let me simplify with a graph.

What you can discern from this graph is that the level and value of beauty don’t end up directly proportional. Instead, the higher the level of beauty, the exponentially higher the scarcity of beauty. The more scarce anything is, the more valuable it is, so scarcity and value can be seen as a proportional concept.

Plastic surgery is very difficult for someone who is already highly beautiful. She’s already pretty to some extent, so it’s only common sense that it’d be hard to make her prettier. Plastic surgery for someone having a high level of beauty can be seen as requiring a high level of plastic surgery. You need a clear understanding of beauty and surgical competence acquired from extensive surgical experience to achieve good results.

Surgery would be difficult and challenging, but it's meaningful for people who are already highly beautiful to become a little prettier. As you have already seen in the graph, where the level of beauty is high, the scarcity and value of beauty increase exponentially if the level of beauty increases even by a little.

For plastic surgery on someone having a high level of beauty, surgery should be performed based on universal beauty rather than being sensitive to trends. Focus needs to be on the class of beauty itself to get good results. Plastic surgery is not for unattractive people, but for those seeking to become more attractive.
