The face you see everyday isn’t your actual face

Mirror image: The image of an object reflected in a mirror, a left-right reversal of its actual form.    The face we usually see in our daily lives is not our actual face. This is because we usually look at our face reflected in a mirror. Mirrors don’t show your appearance as is but project the right side on the left and vide versa. This is called a mirror image. Then, there come moments you encounter your actual face. This is when you look at photos. Have you ever found your face unfamiliar when looking at photos of yourself? This is because you mainly see your face through a mirror, but the face you’ve become familiar with is a left-right reversed mirror image of your actual face. In theory, objects that are completely symmetrical to the left and right have the same mirror image as the true image. The more symmetrical the face, the more similar the actual face is to the face in the mirror. Conversely, the more asymmetrical the face, the greater the difference between the actual face

Traceless surgery – Facial bone surgery

Traceless: Unable to detect without a trace as though nothing was enhanced or altered. There are two things people want to get out of surgery. One is to see significant results from surgery and the other is that no one knows they’ve ever had surgery albeit substantial results. It is difficult to hide the fact one has had surgery done for the most common surgeries like double eyelid surgery or nose raising surgery. This is because these are highly visible areas, and the difference is noticeable. Being the most common, we encounter these cases of surgery the most. We often see self-proclaimed plastic surgery experts around us who claim to be able to uncannily detect whether someone has had surgery or not. However, it’s another story for the field of facial contouring and orthognathic surgery that I usually perform. Facial contouring and orthognathic surgery are the representative facial bone surgeries. Facial contouring surgery changes the contour of the face, and generally includes chee

When a person 's face changes with plastic surgery, it can change his or her life. When looking at an object, we feel something from the visual image of the object. We call this an impression. We obviously also get an impression when looking at people. Changing your face with plastic surgery will leave a different impression on everyone you encounter. Different impressions are reacted to differently and the different reactions collectively can change a person's life. You can easily envision a positively changed impression will change a person's life in a good way. I appeared on the show ‘Let Me In’ and performed a lot of plastic surgery on the participants. I’ve actually appeared in various other makeover programs but I will take this show as an example because it has a high profile.   ‘Let Me In’ is a program that selects people who’ve undergone difficulties due to their unattractive appearance and improves their appearance with plastic surgery. If you've ever watched

Full disclosure of trade secrets – What’s achievable without surgery

Charles Darwin stated that primates have facial expressions in a book titled ‘Expression of Human and Animal Emotions’ that was released in 1872. He elaborated that facial muscles express one’s psychological state and the face changes depending on one’s state of mind. I think the fact that one’s psychological state shows on the face is something that everyone comes across in real life, even if it wasn’t pointed out in Charles Darwin's book. [Charles Darwin / Photo Source: Google] Since I specialize in plastic surgery, I often compare photos before and after plastic surgery. Among these, I look more at the before and after photos of facial contouring or orthognathic surgery, being my area of expertise. What's interesting is that facial contouring or orthognathic surgery only changes the shape of the face, but the eyes, nose, and mouth feel different. The eyes, especially, feel very different in many cases. Facial contouring or orthognathic surgery reduces the volume of the outer
