No.14 Cosmetic essay by Dr. Lee Jin soo- Surgery which works like a charm-Facial bone surgery

Image
There are two wishes for plastic surgery that the patients has. One is that they want to have a big effect on surgery, and the other is that I don't want anyone to know that they've had surgery. The most common plastic surgery, double eyelid surgery or rhinoplasty are hard to be hidden. It's very visible, and the difference is noticeable. Because these surgeries are most common, I get the most cases of them. You can often see self-proclaimed professionals who claim that they are really good at noticing the differences. But my favorite field of facial contouring and double jaw surgery is different. Facial contouring and two jaw surgery are typical facial bone surgery. Facial surgery is a surgery that changes the contour of the face, and it typically includes cheekbone surgery, square jaw surgery, and tip of chin surgery. A double jaw surgery is a procedure that changes the position of the upper and lower jaw bones and it’s used to correct the malocclusion or to ...

No.13 Cosmetic essay by Dr. Lee Jin soo- Undergoing plastic surgery is an altruistic behavior.

Image
It's easy to think of plastic surgery as a selfish act, since it improves your appearance. In fact, plastic surgery is strictly for your own satisfaction. I see the beginning of the surgery as dissatisfaction with your appearance. It is the basis of plastic surgery to correct and change the part you are dissatisfied with. Plastic surgery is extremely personal thing. People feel good when they see something beautiful. This is the essence of beauty. Reacting to beauty is innate, not by learning. Babies respond to beauty too. If you change your unsatisfactory appearance to a satisfactory level with plastic surgery, you will eventually become beautiful. When you become beautiful, you are giving the good impression to people around you whether it is intentional or not intentional. So, can't you say plastic surgery is altruistic? Of course, I'm sure some of you would say this is a plastic surgeon's eccentricity, but it's clear that plastic surgery has ...

No.12 Cosmetic essay by Dr. Lee Jin soo- How to Be Pretty Without Surgery

Image
Charles Darwin said in his 1872 book, <Emotions of Man and Animals>, primates have expressions. It also said that facial muscles express their condition and their faces change depending on their state of mind. I think that the psychological state of mind appears on the face, and it's not necessarily seen in Charles Darwin's book, but it's something that anyone can see in real life. As I specialize in plastic surgery, I often compare before and after pictures of plastic surgery. Among other things, I see a picture of facial contouring and double jaw surgery that I usually do. What's interesting is that facial contouring and double jaw surgery has changed the facial shape,  but I feel different about eyes, nose, and mouth. In particular, the eyes are often very different.  When you have facial contouring and double jaw surgery, the volume of the outline of your face decreases, making your eyes, nose and mouth to be emphasized.  The interesting thing I’ve f...

No.11 Cosmetic essay by Dr. Lee Jin soo- “It ain’t over till it’s over”

Image
“ It ain’t over till it’s over” This is what Yogi Berra, the legendary catcher for the New York Yankees, said. As a baseball player said this, it can be interpreted as meaning that the winning or losing game will not be known until the game is over. It gives us the meaning that even if you're losing 2 out in the bottom of the ninth, you can turn the game upside down before the final out, so don't give up until the end and do your best. "It's not over until the end of the season," Yogi Berra told a reporter when the New York Mets were at the bottom of the group, trailing the Chicago Cubs by 9.5 games in 1973, after retiring from the New York Yankees. What's really great is that after this interview, after this season, he eventually beat the Chicago Cubs to win the East Division of the National League. Everyone can say it easily, but I think it's really hard and great to make it real. If I do surgery every time, of course there...

No.10 Cosmetic essay by Dr. Lee Jin soo- The natural beauty

Image
"I want to be changed naturally" "I want to be changed as much as I can" That's what I hear a lot when I'm right before the surgery. I guess many people think that 'being natural' is to change slightly, and 'being obvious' is a lot of change. But it's a misconception. You can achieve natural look with a lot of change. The word 'natural' doesn't mean changing a little, but it means that the change is not awkward or doesn't come with a fixed mark. On the contrary, 'Being obvious' is with a fixed mark. Even if you change it a little bit, it doesn't look like it was the original shape and it's a sign that's been altered. It's called the "Plastic Monster" in Korean , which means a person who has a lot of plastic surgeries on one's face. What I'm looking for is natural beauty, and natural beauty is needed as much as possible for optimum beauty. But it's important that the ...

No. 9 Cosmetic essay by Dr. Lee Jin soo- Please cut it all under the nerve line!

Image
Facial contouring is a surgery that changes facial shape by trimming the bones of the face. In order for facial bones to be trimmed and changed, the cartilage outside the bone (skin, fat, muscle, etc.) must respond. If you want to change your face, the cartilage must react, and vice versa, the maximum amount that the cartilage responds to is the maximum amount of effect If you cut the bone as much as you can, you'll think your face will change to the fullest, but it's not. If the cartilage responds, cutting the bone doesn't fully reflect the shape of the bone and creating the remaining cartilage, it creates a stretched shape. During the consultation, people ask, "Do I have a high nerve line?" In the lower jaw bone, there's a hypnotic nerve called the mandibular nerve and the nerves that are responsible for the sensation of the lower lip, and if you take an X-ray of your face, it goes from the middle to the lower jaw bone, and the height of yo...

No. 8 Cosmetic essay by Dr. Lee Jin soo- Does life change when you change your face?

Image
When you see an object, you feel it in its visual image. This is called an impression. Of course there are impressions when you look at people. When plastic surgery changes your face, it makes a different impression on everyone who treats you. Different impressions appear in different reactions, and the sum of those different reactions changes the life. It's easy to predict that plastic surgery will change one's life if your impression is changed well and make a good impression on others. I've done a lot of plastic surgery for the cases in TV series 'Let Me in'. In fact, I've appeared in a variety of makeover programs other than Let Me in, but since it   has a high profile, so let me give you an example of Let Me in. Let Me in is a program that selects people with difficult situations due to poor appearance and improves their appearance through plastic surgery. If you've ever seen this program, you've probably found that it's amazing how much ...
